Romaric Chavy-Chouet is very much a “Top Gun” of Burgundy, despite his relatively youthful age. He’s the 7th generation of the family to tend the vines owned by the family in both Puligny and Mersault. Prior to taking over the business upon his father’s death, production had been geared entirely towards selling fruit to other producers. Romaric, having honed his winemaking skills internationally (including some formulate vintages here in SA at The Winery of Good Hope), boldly switched production back to producing wines of distinction under their own label. This is a modern day success story in an ancient wine producing land. The wines are already sold on allocation, and just 24 bottles each of these two examples were made available to South Africa.
