Domaine Newman is located in the heart of Burgundy’s Cote d’Or, the medieval fortified town of Beaune and the ‘capital’ of Burgundy.
All the wines of the Domaine are produced from vineyards owned by Chris Newman and are the result of an ongoing quest to craft the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay’s. The vineyards are farmed organically so as to limit production and concentrate the individual wine’s expression of terroir. Harvest is by land with a sorting of the grapes in the field and in the cuverie to insure that all fruit is of top quality. The wines are fermented in a traditional fashion with natural yeasts and are then gravity fed into 30% to 50% new Troncais and Allier oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and from 10 to 18 months ageing. The wines are not racked, fined or filtered.
Domaine Newman believes that Burgundy wines should be elegant expressions of the Pinot Noir grape as it relates to each vineyard’s specific location. Preferring complexity and finesse to over-extracted.
