Domaine Roger Perrin is a family run winery founded in 1969 by Roger Perrin.

It is currently headed by Veronique Perrin-Rolin and her son Xavier.

Xaxier is a 5th generation winemaker and a new rising star according to Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

The vineyard has existed on the property since the beginning of the 1900’s.  Some of the vines are over 100 years old with the average vine age being 60 years.

Chateauneuf Du Pape literally translates to ‘The Popes New Castle’.  The history of this appellation is firmly entwined in papal history.

In 1309, Pope Clement V, fled Rome to the French town of Avignon.  He and the Avignon Popes were said to be great lovers of burgundy wines and did much to promote them during the 70-year Avignon Papacy.
