Greywacke is the wine label of Kevin Judd, one of Marlborough’s pioneer winemakers.  He moved to New Zealand in 1983 and joined Selaks Wines.  Subsequently, he became the founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay, a pivotal role during which he directed the company’s first 25 vintages.  He established Greywacke in 2009 naming the label after the prevalence of rounded Greywacke river stones found in the soils of the vineyard.  The Greywacke portfolio is primarily based on two varietals, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. These are also limited edition releases of Chardonnay, and three aromatic varieties – Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer.
