The Opawa farm is just off the “golden mile” (an area identified as being the very finest for Marlborough wines). This is New Zealands first ever dedicated Pinot Noir winery, specialising specifically in refining the quality of NZ Pinot. They’re doing well, too. At a recent tasting of NZ Pinot Noir at Harod’s the Opawa was the clear winner of a large flight of top wines. Rapaura gravels absorb the sun’s warmth during the day, radiating back onto the grapes by moonlight thus creating the intense aromatic flavours for which Marlborough is so highly reputed. This is world-class NZ Pinot at its finest.
