Casere Venezia Pinot Grigio 2016
“Pinot Grigio from a country-side winery in Italy’s Lison-Pramaggiore, on the outskirts of Venice.”
When deciding what wines we specifically wanted to look for at Vinitaly, Pinot Grigio was first on our list. It has become very fashionable, is synonymous with Italian wine and even has some excellent South African examples. It’s the same grape as Pinot Gris, but the Italian style is to harvest it earlier to retain the refreshing acidity it is so well known for. This particular example stood out from literally hundreds of examples for being honest, clean and elegant… and from Venice.
It’s absolutely fabulous with antipasti, white meats and fish.
