Edouard Labeye is a pioneer among winemakers in Southern France; he is also one of the partners at The Winery of Good Hope. His masterful techniques and the superior grape-growing know- how are the building blocks for a great wine.
There is no comparison when it comes to local Pinot Noirs, that the EL is beyond the highest expectations. The grapes were hand-picked from a single vineyard in the Hemel-en-Aarde region. The grapes were hand-sorted and fermented in oak barrels for 10 months resulting in a wonderfully perfumed fruit expression.
The 2019 shows more density than previous years. The nose expresses earthy, fynbos aromas with a slight liquorice character on the palate.
The tannins are refined with a clean, mineral lift towards the long, tapering finish.
