Grapes are harvested from the Hospice’s vines every vintage to create 45 distinct cuvees.  This example is crafted from the premier Cru vineyards of Monthélie Contrôlèe. The wine is tasted prior to the Auction from barrel. Once sold, the wine remains in barrel for further aging, then bottling and eventually distribution to the buyer. Hospices De Beaune wines typically show the buyers name on the label alongside that of the winemaker – in this case, Jean Lebelin. The label reads “Frogitt Vonkel Dale”, as we bid on the wine in partnership with Radford Dale founder Alex Dale.  Like any good wine from Burgundy, the value as well as the quality increases steadily for many years.
