Mellish Family Vineyards Bakenkop Blanc Fumé 2018
“An expertly crafted wooded Sauvignon Blanc from the Durbanville Wine Route.”
These 17 year old vines are located on the South-Facing slopes of Bakenkop over-looking the Atlantic Ocean.
The grapes were hand-picked early in the morning then whole-bunch pressed.
65% of the wine was racked into old French oak barrels and 35% to stainless steel tanks.
After fermentation, the wine remained on the lees for 7 months before bottling.
Beautiful saline undertones on the palate with a bone-dry finish and creamy nose suggesting oak.
