Metzer Family Chenin Blanc 2016
A stellar example of the quality of wine Helderberg Chenin grapes can produce, made by a micro-winemaster.
Produced in tiny quantities, this is a stunning debut of a white wine for this much lauded producer. Made entirely from dry-land vines, planted in quartz and granite soils, bunch selection was done in the vineyards at the time of harvest. Picked in two different sessions to give the wine both balance and ripeness. Fermentation was natural and spontaneous, with the resulting juice placed in seasoned oak for 7 months before bottling. Drinking extremely well now, but could be aged a further four to five years with proper cellaring. Extremely limited, only 480 bottles!
