Morella Primitivo Malbek 2014

We learned through finding this wine, and producer, that Malbek is originally from Puglia, Italy, before it’s journey to France and then voyage to South America.

This blend is an African wine-lovers adventure of ever there was one. The Malbek is from 40 year old vines and makes up 15% of the blend. The backbone is this winemakers speciality, Primitivo (Zinfandel).

Hand harvested into small trays, the selected fruit is then given a very soft basket-press before being placed in small French barriques for 10 months maturation. The wine is then given an additional 8 months of bottle aging before release.

Drinking fantastically at a young age, but the wine is built to age nicely, too.
