Rascallion Wines Edward Ross 2018
“An award-winning red blend named after the original Rascal, Edward Ross.”
Named after Ross’ grandfather and considered to be the original Rascal in the family, Edward Ross.
He had a rich and entertaining life and saw service in the South African army and navy in WWII. This wine honours his service and that of many others, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.
A wonderfully full-bodied and elegantly wooded red blend sourced from a combination of parcels from Stellenbosch and Paarl.
The low yielding vineyards produced small berries with lots of colour and fruit concentration.
The Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon spent 18 months in French oak whilst the Cinsault and Grenache was matured in 4thand 5th fill barrels for 9 months.
All four varietals were seamlessly blended together to create a full bodied, structured wine with great aging potential.
52% Shiraz, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cinsault, 7% Grenache Noir
