Now 6 years old, this vintage is drinking beautifully, but will continue to develop with age.
The vineyard ripens early, thus allowing Saxenburg to pick earlier and ensuring a lower alcohol level.
Once harvested, the fruit was fermented in open top fermenters and removed from the skins early to prevent any bitterness.
The wine was matured for 12 months in a combination of 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels.
The nose is fruit forward with a combination of dark plum and dark cherries.
A medium bodied Pinotage with hints of dark chocolate and a beautifully long finish.
The winemakers at Saxenburg have paid unbridled care and attention in the aging and storing of this wine in idyllic conditions.
