Surfer’s Path Syrah 2016
“From an extraordinary wine-maker. 100% Swartland Shiraz, from 17 year old bush vines, conveys the warmth of the region effortlessly.”
The name ‘Surfer’s Path’ was created by Duncan and his friend whilst sitting at a bar, trying to figure out how they can surf more and work less. Whenever Duncan hits the road to explore new coastal vineyards he always makes sure that his board and wetsuit are in the back of his bakkie. One of his routes involves surfing around Yzerfontein then visiting all of his growers around Darling. The last stop is always this little patch of Syrah in the Swartland. Half of the grapes are whole bunch pressed and the other half are crushed and destemmed, giving this Syrah a beautiful expression of red fruit and a deep ruby colour. The wine is aged for 12 months in 10 year old French Oak barrels giving the wine beautiful complexity.
Can age for 3 to 8 years, but we think you’ll drink it now.
