Wirra Wirra Church Block 2019
“A beautiful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot which has been expertly mastered over four decades.”
R730.00 per bottle (South Africa)
Church Block was the first wine the late Greg Trott produced under the Wirra Wirra label back in 1972. He took the name from one of the original vineyards, which runs next to the small Bethany Church across the road from Wirra Wirra cellars.
Over 4 decades the Church Block label has become an Australian favourite.
Senior winemaker, Paul Smith’s philosophy is to always let the fruit shine.
A mesmerizing inky scarlet hue dances in the glass with a deep plum core.
Once harvested the wine was matured in a combination of French (70%) and American oak (30%) barriques and hogsheads.
The palate expresses a combination of dense dark fruits underwritten with leafy, earthy tones.
