There has been a lot of talk about West Coast and Swartland wines in the press of late – and for good reason! Lots of great wines and great wine making techniques are coming out of the region, winning-awards globally and placing the region formly on the map. The Swartland offers a real stylistic alternative to Stellenbosch. The Hughes Family Wines, situated just outside Malmesbury, was a real “find” for us. As a member of the Swartland Independent Producers (SIP), their organic approach to viticulture supports a sustainable environment, ensuring that the highest quality wines are produced. The vines receive no irrigation here, relying solely on winter rains and natural moisture during the summer.
