Opawa

The Opawa farm is just off the “golden mile” (an area identified as being the very finest for Marlborough wines). This is New Zealands first ever dedicated Pinot Noir winery, specialising specifically in refining the quality of NZ Pinot. Opawa, meaning ‘smokey river’ in Maori, is located on the old river bed of the historic Opawa River in Marlborough. Stony river gravels absorb the sun’s warmth during the day, radiating back onto the grapes by moonlight thus creating the intense aromatic flavours for which Marlborough is so highly reputed. This is world-class NZ Pinot at its finest.
