Hilton Vineyards The Cartref Syrah 2020

Description

Named after the soils in which the vineyards were grown – Cartref. The grapes were hand-picked and hand-sorted from the vineyards located in the Elgin region. The grapes were 100% de-stemmed and crushed with zero addition of sulphur. This Syrah was fermented with indigenous yeast and aged for 14 months in older French oak barrels. Bright ruby in the glass with hints of wild strawberries and cherries on the nose. The wine is light to medium-bodied with a softly vibrant palate and clean acidity. The subtle tannins create a balanced mouthfeel and lingering aftertaste that allows the wine to age for up to 5 years. No fining or filtration. 4 Platter Stars – 2022
