Description
A deeply purple Pinotage harvested from 28 year old bush vines in Paarl and Wellington. The grapes were handpicked and fermented in open top fermenters for 5 days. After fermentation the wine was transferred to French oak barrels for 24 months. (70% new, 30% 2nd fill) These barrels were crafted from carefully selected wood from the Troncais forest in France. This Pinotage is full-bodied with evocative aromas of black cherries, underpinned by notes of earth and sweet oak spice. The palate is weighty with a sturdy framework of ripe, mouthcoating tannins. Generous layers of black fruit and roasted coffee beans come through on the nose. Can age for 20 years.
